So, I am a Truckee native, born and raised and still living here at the age of 22. I obviously love it here but the main reason I haven't left yet is because I haven't found anywhere else that can quite measure up to this quaint town.

I love the snow, how dog friendly the area is, the great neighborhoods for raising kids, the low crime, the great warm summers... etc etc.

Well, My boyfriend and I have recently been looking around to move but we can't find a place we both agree on. We do both agree that Truckee is a great place, but being here for so long we just need to have a change and get out for awhile.

If anyone can give me some advice on great places nearby (less than 400 miles away from Truckee because we have family who live here) I would be very grateful.

Let me say, I am not crazy about big cities whatsoever and we have a dog so we need lakes, or rivers for her and plenty of trails to walk on.

Thanks in advance!

Humans are the only specices that feel uncomfortable once they have found or are in the best place they could possible live. Amazing.

Stay in Truckee and just visit the rest of California as you have time. Trust me it doesn't get any better in California. Unless your sick of the snow then I would move along the Coast somewhere if you can afford it.
