No, the coast is HWY1 not 101.
The coastal route will take longer but, if you have the time, it's well worth it.

The trip from Carmel to Morro Bay by 101 takes about two hours.
The trip from Carmel to Morro Bay on PCH takes four hours plus. Worth every minute.
