Is anyone here licensed to carry in California? If so please provide me with a first-hand account of how difficult it was to obtain your license. I know it's "possible" to get one here, just not probable. Kind of un-American if you ask me.

I think that PRIVILEDGE is reserved for Rosie O'Dingleberry and Nancy P**-LOUSY.

See, the f**TH running California want to have a feeling of superiority...........the working class scum do not rate protection.

An interesting take on the situation. So, your mind came up with the idea that Rosie O'Donnell and Nancy Pelosi have concealed weapons permits?

Interesting, I wonder if you could give a little background on the research you did to determine that?

Interesting too, that you believe Rosie O'Donnell and Nancy Pelosi run California. I wonder if you could provide a little background on that.

I don't see why it should be difficult to get one. It's easy here in VA and we don't seem to have any problems from it. We also have very few restrictions on open carry and no issues with that either.

Impossible in LA County, with Baca bragging on his record of not issuing any.

Prior to the new woman Sheriff in OC, you could get one if you were a political crony of or high dollar contributor to the Sheriff. Maybe it's still like that, depending on if this Sheriff continues the practice of corruption.

There's nothing un-American in it. Allowing you to carry a concealed weapon in public endangers yourself and others. If you want to exercise your second amendment rights and play the 18th century militia, buy a bolt-action rifle and carry it open over the shoulder. No permit needed for that.

Statistics show otherwise since CCW holders are required to receive training and meet qualification requirements. Violent crime rates in must issue states usually plummet. Bad guys don't really care for an armed populace. They might get hurt and cowards that they are, they take it easy. Please back up your claim with data or I'll have to call BS on your post.

PS. In the 18th century, bolt action rifles hadn't yet been invented.

The danger is three-prong.

* Allowing you to carry a concealed handgun greatly increases the chance that, at some distant point in future, you'll be upset/angry/drunk/whatever, maybe a neighbor will call you a name, maybe you'll get into a political argument in a bar, maybe a passing car will cut you off, you'll pull out a gun and start shooting. A large percentage of all homicides in the United States are committed in this manner.

Death by the Barrel | Harvard Magazine Sep-Oct 2004

* Having many handguns in circulation makes it very easy for criminals to obtain one. The United States has by far the largest number of handguns per capita.

* If you have a concealed gun on you while you're being assaulted, that increases your chance of being shot by a factor of 4.5.

Protection Or Peril? Gun Possession Of Questionable Value In An Assault, Study Finds

In developed countries where the populace does not have handguns and concealed carry permits is impossible to obtain (e.g. Australia), murder rates are three to four times lower than here.

As a former cop I'll take my chances and trust I'm not as brain dead as you and your ilk obviously consider those of us who have permits.

As they used to say in the 60s, having trouble? Call a hippie!
