Default Geminid meteor shower in Joshua Tree

My internet connection is annoyingly slow right now so i can't even watch this clip but i've heard that the geminin meteor showers are amazing ... averaging 40 an hour.
This clip was filmed in Joshua Tree.

Wow, that was cool. But you're mistaken. That video was shot near Death Valley in 2010. Most of that footage is located in the Alabama Hills region to be specific. I know that area well. If you read the article carefully, you'll see it said the artist "caught" this year's meteor shower last night at Joshua Tree. But look at the credits at the end of the movie and you'll see that was last year's meteor shower. And think about it. The artist didn't make that movie overnight. A production like that takes time to make.

Here's Mobius Arch. Look familiar?

Coincidentally, I took that shot during the geminids last year. I actually photographed the geminids from inside Death Valley. If I'd stayed at mobius arch, I would have seen the fellow making his video.

Here's one of my shots of the geminids in Death Valley taken 12/14/10, exactly one year ago today.

And yes they are amazing to see in person. They're not as bright as you think though. Most of them are pretty faint. You can see how far the exposure was pushed by the film maker when he captured the frames as they practically look like daylight. The one in my shot above was a particularly bright one.

I actually forgot all about the geminids this year until this thread just reminded me. So thanks for that.

Oh, i see.
The article is confusing because it seems to imply that the film clip (which i couldn't even watch due to a really bad internet connection right now) is of these showers and in Joshua Tree.
And oh wow ... that photo is so cool.
Thanks.
