A pathology of this thread, for instance:
Subject: how the state is run
Responses: various! ... mostly whiny, angry, hateful, depreciative!
One person proposes violent demise is at hand due to poor management.
I respond: "relax, enjoy, don't have an aneurysm"
user_id jumps in that I am an ignorant health "freak" (because of the aneurysm comment, I presume?)
(I am, but I prefer the term: "nut" -- it's so much more fun)
user quibbles on and on, condescendingly and arrogantly, about nonsense he knows next to nothing about -- none of which pertains to Calif.
I toy back and return volleys for a little amusement, and then return to making my points about what a great place California is in spite of its challenges.
user_id, one of the very most consistently insulting, arrogant, and condescending posters known to this forum, continuing his sole modus-operandi with a quibble-fest, says that my insulting him reflects an "insecure little personality" (what does his own behavior make him then? -- uh...)
And finally appears now Yeahthatguy, the other totally consistent arrogant, insult master to chime in a wisecrack (having nothing to do with the subject) -- even though he says he has placed me on his "ignore" setting.

How much fun does this get?
Meanwhile, I will continue to be my own kind of nut: loving the simple pleasures of living in minimalist economy, in good health and happiness, wallowing in the nearly limitless wonders of nature in California ... and the silly machinations of government won't begin to spoil my days.

Hmmm, must be something in the rays of the solstice sun today.
Hey, you said, "Now i am actually done".
Hard to quit isn't it?
So, to bring some oceanic light and love and health and happiness to this often grouchy forum and to, by sharing / spreading Mermen energy, potentially lift the spirits of a presently unhappy California (too many people ... that's all there is to it) i offer for your listening pleasure one of my favorite music makers ... The Mermen.
Enjoy it out there on the ocean (can you get Amazon deliveries at sea?) with your pretty (why do i imagine that she is?) young wife.

This c.d. never gets old ... after 10 years of listening it still inspires me and floats my inner boat.
I'd post it over on the music forum but with a place with a thread titled "catchy tunes from commercials" i just can't bring myself to share such a gem there.

We remain in port for the next month enjoying the island, snorkeling, working on the old beater boat (24 feet of 40+ year old sailboat for two adults and three large dogs!).

Well, thanks for the thought ... I shall listen such as I can ... I am substantially deafened since the war, but did earn one of my degrees in [classical] music [performance] ... I can enjoy but am limited. My young-ish wife (mid-40's) is a lovely gal, I think ... she is [born] profoundly Deaf ... we speak with our hands ... she relies on me for descriptions of music, but goes for the vibes in any case ... so we will both "listen"

As for "now I am done" -- yeah, I meant engaging in the user_id quibble-fest away from the topic. Now YOUR contribution here I consider on-topic as it relates to how California runs best: person to person with good vibes. Coupla old hippie nut-cases to save the day!

Thanks again

Oh wow ... that's beautiful.

Yes, imo, it's not going to be primarily political engagement / involvement that saves the day but rather, it's going to be individuals who, despite a dark and decadent time, keep their hearts open (or open them if they're not already) and stay true to the direction of their inner compass (or find it if they haven't yet).
What's needed at this time, in order to transform the outer world, is a radical change in consciousness in as many people as possible and whether or not the hundredth monkey effect is scientifically valid, i do feel that every individual who chooses light and love over darkness and fear has a profound effect on the "collective".
The problem is that there is such a prevalence of fear in this time that people have the tendency, in the face of that fear, to hold fast to or retreat into old and familiar but outmoded patterns of thought and behavior. That's just the opposite of what is needed. New paradigms are required in order to turn this whole thing around.
Happy Solstice.

Hmmmm, really?
A hearing aid (can i say that? ), a deeper listening and a hit or two (oh, you don't do that do you?) might do the trick.
But thank you for the clip .. it's nice.

Seems like that 'chill' just disappeared from your soul rather quickly ..
Sorry... its not made in California .. and one of the songs 'reminded' me of the Bonobo track... No need for a hearing aid.

Arnold Shwarzenegger, an immigrant steroid abused bodybuilder turned Actor .. A guy with a GED from Culver City night school ... A guy who fooled all of Amerika ... even fooled the Kennedys, was elected California Governor, then fathered a tar baby from his wife's hired Mexican maid ... then pays her off for 13+ years avoiding extortion ... and she's ugly .... One would think he would fornicate with a Super Model or a Brasilian Porn Actress ...

California's political image forever tarnished and years of living high on the hog mentality .....

I remember watching American Greed on TV. The ENRON fiasco, and their amazing purchase of Californa's energy. One guy says in taped private phone call " F --- them, let em burn, let em burn ". Referring to fires that supposedly burned down energy lines, but not really, they just flicked a switch in a Manhattan high rise and half of Nor Cal had no power, for hourse, resulting in huge stock gains and profits for ENRON.

I feel sorry for California.

Oh i'm sorry, i thought for some reason that Nullgeo posted that clip.
Hence the joking around 'cause we were exchanging posts kind of quickly this morning (i just noticed this post now) and i thought it was a continuation of that.
That's why i made mention of the hearing aid which i then regretted because his wife is deaf and he's lost a lot of hearing.
I didn't intend an insult to anyone.
What's not made in California?
I don't get chill disappearing from my soul thing.

Mr.Kurtz? That nice man over to your left is your attendant. He would like you to let go of the mouse now and give the other patients a turn ... the nice mouse doesn't really like it down in your pants ... that's not the kind of cheese they eat, Mr.Kurtz.
