A close relative of mine in Chico does the same thing. I think it's around $235 per month for a 2,200 sf home.

Thanks. That's really helpful. That's a lot easier to manage than $600/month.

I'm going from my own terribly poor memory, even though I used to write the checks. The bills can definitely be in the $600 range in the summertime if you don't average it out! But do check with others as well.

Hey, again!

I'm moving to Forest Ranch for sure. I'm here now. Anybody have any knowledge about:

- Best company for high speed internet.

- Best for Hi Definition TV

- A land line telephone service

I know that some of these provide internet and tv.

I guess Comcast is local cable and can provide tv, internet, and phone. They said they would go check it out to see if there system reached where I'll be at. That is at most 1/2 mile and probably closer to 1/4 mile from the Grocery Store.

When I was up there I couldn't get cell service. I asked at the store and was told that the best bet was to try at the top of the hill on the way back down to Chico. Anybody able to get cell service up there? If so, with who?

Any knowledge about what you use yourself or what you know or can suggest will be greatly appreciated.

The whole North State is that way. If it's bad in Chico, imagine what that would be like in Oroville, Paradise, Red Bluff or Redding.

Default Trouble In Paradise?

I apologize -- this is actually a new "thread" but I could not find the "start a new post" button.

I am considering retiring to Paradise... but am beginning to see a lot more listings come up... and the properties are just sitting there.

When I first started looking at Paradise as a possible retirement home, when a property appeared it was gone within a week... and that was only a few months ago.

Then I saw a few postings that seemed to indicate that there is some new crime and a lot younger (and maybe not so desirable element) moving into Paradise.

Putting it all together, I am now starting to feel doubts about making Paradise my final home on earth. I can't imagine anything worse than moving to a "nice" area and it turning into a "bad" area at this time in my life.

Anyone who lives there or nearby I would appreciate some input. Thank you,

PattyRet.

I'm one of those younger folk that just moved up to Paradise. No crime around me (unless ripping out the front lawn and installing an organic veggie garden is a crime here too). One thing I did notice about Paradise is how there are no ritzy neighborhoods or really run down neighborhoods....everything is really mixed up. You'll see posh log cabins next to trailers with no rhyme or reason. Not a bad thing I suppose. My neighborhood (West Wagstaff) is pretty pleasant with good neighbors.

Default Appreciate the Information

Thank you for your response. It is appreciated and I did not mean to imply that young people make bad neighbors. I was simply seeing what looked like a trend... more properties for sale, cheaper prices, longer time on the market without purchase.

If there are any people in more the retirement age group who could give me feedback I would really like that. I really don't want to move more than once more and would like any information that would help me make the right choice.

Thanks again for your help,

PattyRet
