Could? Well unless arithmetic is wrong such will work sooner or later, but you're just ignoring all the real issues. Ya know, like how does a shrinking youth population take care of a much larger elderly population? How do you prevent population growth? But wait...there is an obvious solution! We can make you the supreme dictator of earth and you can determine who and who can't have a child, which oldsters should be youth euthanized, etc! It sounds so dreamy!....

I'm surprised you're still trying your violent vulgar nonsense on me.....slow learner? May I suggest a new tactic?

No. Bad Dean. No diploma!
Life expectancies are averages ... not specific for each individual ... and I am exceptional.

Term limits would be good. You may now go to the head of the class!

California has been gradually suffocated by the ultraconservative minority in the legislature for the last decade. We're slowly but surely moving towards being dead last in the country on K-12 spending per student (last I checked, we were #46 out of 50 states), state parks are being closed because we have no money to maintain them, and prisons are forced to release criminals because we can't afford to keep them locked up.

The budget in question is for $92.6 billion. Total population of the state is 37.2 million people. That's $2,500 per person.

Ten years ago, there were 34.7 million people in the state, and the state budget was $103.3 billion ($3,000 per person). Adjusted for inflation to 2011, that would be $3,800 per person.

So, the governor wants to increase spending to slightly more reasonable levels, and to pass a budget that spends only two thirds of what the state spent 10 years ago, and you accuse him of being "out of touch" and "not having a clue"?
^^^ And, as Paul Harvey would say" Now [there's] the rest of the story!"
1st rate post.

I'm not ignoring any of the real issues ... I just haven't brought them up for discussion. You just go ahead and amuse yourself now. Thinking up all the possible things you can to connect in whatever way to the subject, and post them inferentially as if they were already a part of the discussion and only you are sufficiently intellectually evolved to shed light upon .... etc.

Slow learner? Moi? Non! ... I'm not "trying" my violent vulgar nonsense on you! I'm enjoying ridiculing you for the benefit of the legions of other readers here who think you are supremely ridiculous. How do I know they enjoy? You guess

I wondered if this spending and borrowing can go on forever. Looks like there are those who think it can. California has the lowest credit rating of any state (in last place with Illinois). But we have been benefiting from historic and artificially low interest rates. So our lousy budget management hasn't really hurt much yet.

What happens when rates go up as they surely will? Some day the music will stop for this tax and spend nonsense. And our cost to finance this runaway spending will go thru the roof. What will the Democrats and libs who run the state say then? I'm sure they will find someone else to blame it on. But us taxpayers will suffer. And those who can't find jobs in an economy decimated by socialism will suffer too.

Yes. And to think you just accused me of being so "civil" in another thread recently!

I just don't know what comes over me when certain people start posting snotty, conceited, arrogant, ignorant vomitus. I lose all composure and reserve and become -- so, well, baboon-like, I guess would be accurate ... no wait, chimpanzee-like would be better ... because chimps act barbarously for less specified reasons than baboons ... I think ... whoa! : better check with user_id on this ... I understand he's the resident baboon-behaviorist for C D forum ... and we are surely lucky to have him and his splendid talent with Wikipedia.

Meanwhile: back to Brown wanting more bananas -- or was it ...... ?
