I think California has a very limited market for those types of restaurants, basically transplants from other areas with less....hmm....discerning tastes.

Not enough "crackers," I reckon.

Actually it was the natives who made up this market back in the day.

But when they tilted the nation and all the nuts rolled into CA, the down home cuisine fell out of favor.

Back in what day? In the past there were fewer native Californians...

Down home cuisine? You mean Southern crap? California has its own "down home cuisine" and its not the stuff they serve at Cracker Barrel.....

I ate at Roscoe's in Socal a few years ago. Close to what I had when I was in Decatur Georgia in the mid 90's. Can't beat chicken and waffles for real Southern down home.

Default Nope, none in CA

My wife and I make it a point to eat at both Cracker Barrel (and Waffle House for that matter) whenever we're on vacation in the south or midwest. We like the southern food and like looking at the merchandise in the gift shop. I think the closest one to CA is in Yuma AZ. Also one in Kingman, AZ. Not sure about Las Vegas.

We had Cracker Barrel's in So CA up till 1983 or so. I used to buy the cheesebread cheeseburger. The food was always top notch but service varied. Went in on a bowling league night and could not get service, waitress finally drifted by and sad sorry I have a large party. I said ya, we are in that party.

Went in the one by the house in 1983 and ordered my cheesebread cheeseburger, which was still on the menu. I get served a cheese burger. I get the manager over and I see the problem. They went the "Wong" way.
