A guy i know at staters just got off a 60 day paid vacation to spend with his new born son. Hes not married & plans to have another kid next year. He told me this is a relatively new ca law so the father can bond with the child. The employer must pay their wages during this time & give them their jobs back same as before. Is ca the only state that does this ?

Family Medical Leave gives you 6 weeks at 55% salary, and a lot of employers will kick in to make up the difference.

good luck with that in the long term. That's one thing employers have had a tough time with... hiring enough people so each person doesn't have to live at work. Yeah, I know medical costs are rising at a logarithmic rate and the whole thing is unsustainable and leading to a collapse down the road... what annoys me more are the people to live to work, compete with each other, and are in general tools and play right into the hands of the management though.

Man got along perfectly fine before the law. Ca surely is law crazy. 700 new laws this year alone. Thats why we dont need a full time legislature. They have nothing else better to do then write up new laws.

The CA program is called California Paid Family Leave and offers 55% of your salary for 6 weeks. Your buddy at Staters must have supplemented the 2 month leave with vacation and/or sick pay. and if he received 100% of his salary it must have been because of union contracts.
