You must live in a very deep valley if solar is not an option.

Are you in Agricultural (A) District or Estate (E) District? If so, you may be able to do it. No height limit given in their codes but I may have missed it. Also, the reviewing agency may impose one as part of their approval (which is usually dependent on the site and its surroundings).

Are you actually inside city limits? Either way, City Manager Greg Garrett worked in the wind industry for years before becoming City Manager, so it's likely that he may be a good resource or at least able to point you in the right direction on this issue.

Good luck! I always love to see more residential turbines in the Tehachapi Valley and Mountains!

Solar with a tracker, should work, unless you are so deep against the south side that you get little sunshine.

Call a wind turbine installer company, they will be able to tell you about a turbine installation.

Where's the ROTFLMAO icon.

Don't you just love this state.

Everybody is supposed to run around and go green, but heaven help you if you actually try to do something on your own.

Good luck finding all the hoops to be jumped through before the hoop makers catch up to you and fine you from here to kingdom come.

Ahh, yes. Life in paradise.

No, there is no problem except it seems the OP is having trouble finding the information he needs, simply because he has not called the right people. The answer he seeks is available within 5 minutes with one phone call, and that is true throughout the state.

Remember, 62 paved roads and innumerable dirt roads leave this state.

We recently did a study on this, in an area with much concern for bald eagles and other endangered birds. You can install them on the roof of a one story building, the technology is there.

Apparently in some areas solar panels offend neighbors (considered unsightly) and you have to completely cover them from view--total building codes nonsense... wonder if this is an issue with wind turbines...

Yes, it is an issue with wind turbines as well. Maybe they'd rather look at a nuclear power plant, or some oil derricks or something.

Google the Cape Wind project for a utility-scale example of classic NIMBYism.
