Reading recently on a CD thread concerning quality issues about Italian and other imported olive oils, I saw a suggestion for trying CA oils. I found only one today at my grocery...bought but have not tried it yet...

Question: Not sure if CA oils are rated in some way, or how to tell about quality...any particular brand names that oo uses like? The one I bought just said CA grown-bottled, EVOO.

What else can you tell me about CA olive oils??
Thanks

CA oils are trendy and very over priced right now. Much like CA honey.

I highly recommend Lucero Olive Oil. Their products are reasonably priced with a unique north valley taste. There's really nothing like it. We use their products extensively and they make excellent gifts. Olives grown in rich Jefferson country soil. :-)

California Olive Ranch oils are sold at Whole Foods. They did well in a New York Times comparison and I like the one I tried.

One brand carried at our local supermarket claims to be EVOO from California. It has no flavor, and tastes an awful lot like grapeseed oil. Hmmmm......
