Freedom to practice, freedom not to practice. Practice makes perfect! But if you're going to practice, just don't get too jiggy with it!

Either Islam, as a body of religious doctrine, teaches and recommends these things, or it doesn't. But don't take my word for it. Check the Q&A on the website of your local mosque. It's mainstream, and it's in English. Let me know what you find out, will you?

Like I said: secular, non-practicing Muslims will be fine in Sacramento.

Well, it looks like you were successful... Your posts are likely enough to scare away any diversity... I am amazed CD allows you to continue with your fear mongering...

Sure you can read anything in any text out of context... Research it yourself... Their are thousands and thousands of pages to help you put those phrases in context...

You choose to interpret and hear things they way you want too believe them.. Those of you that cannot accept the "good" in other faiths, exhibit the trait of a Jihadist... Driving the wedge of difference between society to fulfill ulterior motive...

THIS.. Is not healthy for humanity....Blinded you are, wishing to lead humanity down a dark bloody path.

Thanks a lot for those who replied to my actual question.
I must admit that I was absolutely shocked by some of the answers and ignorance towards Islam by some members. This is beyond stereotyping of Islam, and as a moderate Muslim I am aware of the teachings of Islam and it does not teach, recommend or even doctrine any of the horrible things mentioned above. In reality real Muslims completely condemn any sort of "terrorism".
These actions are representative of individuals and have nothing to do with the Religion.

I feel generalizations about Islam is dangerous and misguided... To me it seems some Christians and Jews are just as, or more hell bent on Jihad.

All three Religions have dangerous elements to them...

I refuse to paint with the brush you do..

We should just ban religion..
Obama's workin' on it.

Don't mind some of the posters on this forum. Some of them just like to debate. Some see any post about religion or politics and drool over the chance to stir things up. I didn't read all the comments on this thread, because I'm short on time right now, but that's my personal observation (and to those who may attack me later for this, I am allowed to have an opinion) with this message board as a whole, not just this thread.

Please don't take any religious comments that may have been made personally, or as an accurate representation of a city or state. If you were to ask me for my opinion, there are predominantly (not that everyone falls into these buckets) two types that come on these boards, #1 those doing research / paying it forward for the advice they received and #2 those with a lot of time on their hands and just looking to stir up mischief. Nothing wrong with either type as I'm not here to judge (heck, I had a lot of time on my hands last weekend watching over a sleeping sick pup, and got sucked into pro-choice debates myself - but have since distanced myself from that thread), it just is what it is.

Good luck, and if you have any other questions, please do ask.

The same members who have no shame bashing religion all over this site - are now coddling Islam in this thread. Big LOL at the hypocrisy.

I know that you are obligated to say such stuff. Your religion commands you to market Islam as positive, even if you have to bend the truth to do so. Please don't waste time replying in defense, as I (and those of us who KNOW Islam) won't be fooled.

But I do wish you well, and pray that you find God one day. And no, public transportation in Los Angeles in not a viable option. Get a car when you get here.

Major overgeneralization. All truly urban parts of California have decent public transportation. That means pretty much the entire city of San Francisco of course, and also Oakland and Berkeley, but also some parts of Los Angeles and San Diego. The stereotype of SoCal being uniquely car-centric is overblown, because pretty much the entire United States is relatively suburban and therefore car-centric. It's a question of urban vs suburban really. Stick to highly urbanized parts, and you'll be okay.

I'm guessing you haven't spent much time in downtown Los Angeles? Sure they have buses, but...
