Pismo Beach? about half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. 18 miles long. The only development is on the north 3 miles.

In the third photo down there is a range of hills that drops to the ocean. At the finish line of the film Hidalgo you can see the hills in the back ground. In one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies a galleon comes through sand dunes to the ocean, you can see the same hill in the background of that shot also.

Oh yeah, they tend to be shy and not so outgoing unless they get their "foot" in the door so to speak.

I always had this fantasy of harvestable pismos on the beaches at Vandenberg. Not sure if it is the sandy type or the Shell beach rocky ones. I will have to go check them out someday.

And, as the poster above said i will need to go see the San Diego habitats.
