I am getting weary about blanket statements about California. Smog, sprawl, rude and aggressive drivers, heavy traffic expensive place to live, crowded. Granted, these thing are true. True if you live in Urban areas of LA/OC and the SF Bay Area. To a lesser extent in the San Diego and Sacramento areas. Looking at a map of CA, one notices that the vast majority of the State is not urban. Something like less than 3% of the land in CA is urban. That's where 80% of the population resides

So when someone says that this state stinks because of the above listed reasons, more than likely they are referring to their little part of that less than 3% of CA.

So what about the other 97% of the surface area of CA. See, where I (and many other CA posters) roll our eyes when someone from some SoCal urban town says he or she hates CA, because it is smoggy, crowded and covered with sprawl, I have to roll my eyes.

I live in CA. No smog, no sprawl, no gangs, friendly people. Median home price; $160K. No Palm trees in sight. Snows every winter. Everyone knows their neighbor. I don’t usually lock my car. Yes, most of CA is like that. CA is great! Wide open spaces! No traffic issues, clean air, low crime. Nearest mall is 60 miles from my house.

It’s a big State. If you laid CA over the Midwest it would stretch from Illinois to Louisiana. And as varied.

Think about it before you say CA is a lousy place to live.

People apply their blanket statements to the coastal areas of So Cal. I've grown tired of correcting people who proclaim "YOU CAN'T BUY AN AFFORDABLE HOUSE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA!!!"

"YOU CAN'T CARRY A GUN IN CALIFORNIA!!!" Come to San Bernardino County, Kern County... bla bla. Orange and LA County aren't the entire state.

I don't understand how it can be overpriced and overcrowded yet, a place no one likes....

I will concede that is not for everybody but even the naysayers have to admit that there are an awful lot of people that do like it.
