I sure wish more people would think that way.
Then maybe someday I would have all of this nice scenery to myself. ![]() ![]() |

I don't know what city you live in now. I just moved from Sonoma County in northern CA, to Plano, TX. Your husband must work in a highly technical field because the wage factor I've found, is completely the opposite of what you're describing. Wages in Plano, and the entire Dallas metroplex are by far lower than what I was used to in CA. By that, I mean about half. Housing is less expensive here, but all the rest of the household expenses are about the same, if not slightly higher. Property taxes are nearly double what they were even in Sonoma County, which is one of the most expensive counties in California. Groceries, clothing, etc. are the same here in most cases. Of course you don't get the "fresh" produce here like you do in CA. My car insurance doubled after moving here. There is no income tax here, but the trade-off for other state fees as a result of no income tax, makes it equal. As far as Texas having more money than CA, that's laughable. |

ladysrodgers, Great post!
I moved to Texas too. We miss California sooooo much!!! We are retired so I don't know anything about employment but the taxes we pay in Texas equal out to what we were paying in California, just like you mentioned. We also miss the fresh fruit and veggies. California tops that!! ![]() You don't know what you got until it's gone. For me anyways. I love California. I could never ever bash it. I don't know if we can ever afford to move back to Calif but by no means is that Calif faults. I hope and pray we can someday. But if we can't, I will always have very fond memories of it. California is the third largest state in area, after Texas and Alaska. I wonder if a lot of people think "California" is limited to just L.A., Orange County, and San Francisco. The state has wilderness areas just as extensive as you might find in other western state. The whole far northern part of the state, parts of the Mohave Desert, eastern side of the Sierras.
Are people just not used to having to look a little for quiet places? |

So do I. I like the desert look. I think this is the desert, but I could be wrong. Just give me some mountains to look at and a town thats not infested with texas lone star flags and Im a happy man.
