I'd pull the arugula off. The corny names leave me cold, but I'm VERY cynical and jaded.
That sounds fabulous, and I like you cynical and jaded. It makes for more fun.

(My favorite colleague is cynical and jaded. He grumps, and I turn it into a joke. I get a smile out of him almost every time ).

Never heard of this place until now, but find it amusing. I know of a few vegan, or otherwise hippie-like food businesses in the LA area and they are all run terribly..... Not only do they violate the law, but they are painfully cheap with their employees.

Anyhow, gotta love a feel-good business that is being sued, successfully, by its employees for unfair labor practices....

All I had to read was this: "Cafe Gratitude's policy of making management employees attend the Landmark Education's Landmark Forum."

Whackjobs.

My niece got sucked into that maelstrom and it took her 3 years to break free.

I take that back.
It's not all that i care about.
I like it when the people who are preparing my food do it with care and attention and yes, even love.
It makes a difference imo.
The folks that run Cafe Gratitude? I haven't been there in years actually ... maybe about 4.
I just remember them being kind of retro / goofy / silly but they were friendly.
The law suits and such? I haven't heard or read anything about them.
It's a bummer though if it's true.
Kinda makes me want to avoid it.
I also didn't know anything about the people who owned / managed it or anything about their policies for employees (like making them go to a seminar or whatever ... it is cult like it seems which is creepy).
I just went there those years back when i was in S.F. and wanted some good raw food.
And it was.

Sometimes things that start out good collapse in on themselves as the grow to big....

We have a great little one shop husband and wife raw food joint... Raw food for the most part a few cooked vegan things, and a chicken dish or too... The fellow has the touch... A spectacular cook a master of blending flavors...Wow wow wow.. You can take the most non vegan person in their and they will be raving.. Their energy drink will keep you going for an entire day! (yes gassy until you build up too it..)

I am a proponent of mom and pop shops maybe one or two at the most... Anything more and one is approaching "chain"..

Me, I consider myself spiritual, not so much in the "creator" sense, but in a mystical way, where I believe we have barely tapped into the capability of our species or have the slightest inkling of how our planet let alone the universe actually works...

Sort of a never say never.. Leave all options for all possibilities open person... So in my wildest imagination I could see machines sentient.

Do I feel we have to worry about that with our current capabilities.. No
(So I agree with your point that spiritual people do not see AI as a threat..)

In the mean time we need to find productive and fulfilling things to do for the people, hence my interest and enthusiasm with mom and pop shops and local, organic agriculture...
