About how many CA people wander into the ID forums to announce these sort of things? Not sure why people who hate CA take time out of their day to tell the world how much they hate it. Kind of like stalking your ex.

If we all suck that much, then just go away, and don't deal with people who suck.

Yes I agree, there is a certain level of snobbery, but it's not entirely based on ignorance. Often the snobbery is a direct reaction to the places these people have come from (or, from their point of view, "escaped" from). A huge percentage of the people who live here came to get away from wherever they came from. That's why no one here complains about, say, all the Michiganers who are "invading" and bringing all their Michigan values. No one here cares where you came from. Compare that to other states that seem to obsess over all the Californians moving there. My point is that California tends to attract a certain type of energetic and restless personality who may not be satisfied with where they're at. So to the person from Baltimore who wants to move here, you sound like that kind of person. And if you make it here, and prove your hometown naysayers wrong who think you're an idiot for taking that plunge (and upsetting their own comfort zones just a bit by doing so), you may develop an ever-so-slight sense of elitism, and you just may well be justified in doing so.
This dovetails nicely with the truism that the snobbiest people in Manhattan are the ones who moved there, not the natives (who are usually quite chill and easy to hang with).

Yeah, the rest of the world can't wait to sign up for a system where only the few get health insurance, and even those who get it go bankrupt if they have a serious condition arise. They're pining for a system that's relegating more and more people to part-time work or independent contractor status without benefits, massive reductions in what little safety net there ever was, layoffs for people over 50 who won't qualify for Social Security until 64 or 65, a shrinking job market even for college grads, let alone unskilled labor, university education only with massive debt rather than scholarships, etc. etc. Western Europe especially is jealous (not!). How many people have spent much time at all in Germany, Sweden or Norway? Some of these places make the US look almost like a 3rd World country. Yeah, jealous all right.
