Who hates California other than Billy Graham disciples? Who cares what they think anyway?

You betcha. Now, you're new to the banter here, so I'll catch you up on one little piece of history: I live in a van and on a boat up and down the whole Pacific coast from Mexico to Canada -- and in the Hawaiian islands. Home base is on an island in the San Juans, Washington. I certainly do love where I live ... thousands of miles of coastline.

I believe we have general agreement actually, except for housing prices.
Do you require any evidence as to relative affordability or do you agree housing prices outside of Major Metro are relatively more affordable?

Houses are affordable in the boonies, away from jobs, in the valley/desert. Yes we agree if that's your opinion. Otherwise, California housing is pretty expensive.

There are indeed jobs elsewhere in the state. Unemployment is high in some counties, but jobs are definitely in existence. What about northern CA also? People get regular services in all those places. People work and live their lives.
http://www.calmis.ca.gov/file/lfmonth/countyur-400c.pdf
So let's look at Sacto metro. Is that the boonies to you? Sacto is 9.2% unemployment. Higher than Placer County actually at 8%.
Yet there is a 5 bedroom home available for 267k. in Auburn.
Sounds pretty affordable actually for CA for a 5 bedroom 3 bath home.
So I think your generalization that being away from a job center equals no jobs in CA is wrong,
but I do agree on the affordability of the housing in most areas of CA away from the
more Major Metro areas; I don't know what you include as the boonies though.

Auburn = Boonies

Also according to Redfin, the median list price of a home is $411,000 for Auburn. So the house you're citing is probably some run down shack or former meth lab.

Yet, doing better than Sacto unemployment wise. So you're generalization about unemployment out of the major metro areas is incorrect.
Sacto is indeed a major metro area, and Auburn is within 100 miles, which you used as a
criteria before, so your definition changes when presented with evidence contradicting your earlier contention it seems.
Perhaps we should agree on what is and what is not boonies?

Sir, I would never cite a run down shack. Here's the Auburn listings.

I don't wish I could stay 'cause I chose not to and left, not under any pressure, financial or otherwise. I haven't moved back or I wouldn't have left in the first place. I don't trash the state and cope just fine. What's wrong with me?
