They hate California because they with never been there or had bad experiences while there & you know how the media and word of mouth pump up the place. (Lol) I'm from there also and I been living in Texas for 34 years but went home in 2011 & stayed almost 3 years and I had a ball. I used the buses, trains, walked, visited the parks, beaches, museums, the hills, went everywhere I could think of almost free. Brought my own lunch. Jobs r hard if you don't have degree or education as it should be. If u never been trained or have passed a required test to drive a metro bus I certainly don't want you driving me anywhere. It's not hard to get around like it used to be. I'm not sure why but even the 405 I believe that's the name can get crowded but to me it still wasn't bad. My utilities weren't high but waste not want not. The taxes r high like food & eating out but to me people was spending money like crazy and I mean daily, people are everywhere. They may not give u eye contact but it look like anytime I was out (daytime) people was out too. I was from a gang when I was younger living there & I didn't see much of that even in my own hood. They were there I'm quite sure but I didn't see any except mines and they're older now and enjoying life too. Watch your kids don't let them go to bathrooms alone while u wait outside talking on phone the predators will get them and then bring ur child out to you saying some bs that it child was scared cause they didn't see u, knowing they done something to child but that's anywhere you go. When looking for a place always check the neighborhood out morning noon night. 3am, 2pm, midnight etc etc so u can get a feel what's it's like. Freaks b out in day time as well as night or afternoon. Go up to the schools in the mornings afternoon and when's schools out and see what's happening on any given day. See how easy it's to get on or off campuses. Is kids smoking as they arrive to school, standing seem to be gang groups, fighting, just things that need to be done at any school neighborhood city. And check them teachers out they was having a problem with the teachers touching the kids but that's happening everywhere. Over all I planed to stay but couldn't find a steady job but I really enjoyed for the lst time in a long time. I had change. GOOD luck

900 laws about to go into effect for 2015. Many hundreds more than any other state. Nothing but liberal dictators looking to control everyones life with more absurd rules and regulations. Thats just another reason people hate the liberal dictatorship known as CA.

People like you are the ones who rent apartments, own crappy old cars, don't own any businesses or properties and dont realize you are paying 2-3 times more for EVERYTHING you buy just to live in an overcrowded mess of a state. Those of us who actually own properties and have to pay the ridiculous taxes, own businesses and have to pay ridiculous taxes, fees and jump thru a million hoops just for permits and licenses are the people who really feel it and hate it. The sheep just keep moving along with the heard...

mbell, the ONLY one "controlling" your life is you. Your attachment to the wheel is what makes you a cog. You don't "have to own businesses, and properties, and jump through hoops". You're simply too limited intellectually to release yourself from the rat race. You choose to the lifestyle, you play the game. Quit whining. Seriously.

Oh this is just not true. Not any of it. Outsiders reading this. If you are contemplating a move to California, it's okay. There are always those who will try to dissuade you from doing it and they'll make all sorts of claims about the economy, the politics (okay, so that one is kinda nutty) or illegals running rampant. Or the entire state is filled with people on welfare and you'll be paying for their lives. BTW, gasoline in the northern California region is 2.35 a gallon for unleaded regular. Not too bad for the cleaner gasoline we have to pay for.

Just bypass any of the negativity. Those comments come from people like, well like mbell. He's been trying to get out of the state for a long time now. Maybe 2015 will be a better year for him and he'll achieve his goal.

mbell, it's moving along with the herd, not heard.

Along with what the Mutt said, sheep move in flocks, not herds and decidedly not "heards.". Ever the city boy, huh?

He's likely walking backwards. Very slowly. In circles. Gazing at what he's about to leave behind?

What mbell needs is a good running drove.

Maybe we could start a fund? But would that be like welfare? I dunno.
