Default Buying a second home

Im in the search of second home/vacation property/future retirement home. My budget is around 150k. Small Mountain chalet or lake cottage with 1-2 acre of land is ideal. Is it possible?

Budget sounds (very) low, but CA is a big state. Where are you looking?

Possibly central or northern CA. Perhaps Mendocino Co? Or should I search out of state? Its doable in north west PA though, but I don't know anywhere in CA. Any afforable and scenic areas in CA? No areas in the desert pls. Can't bear to live in 100 plus temp. I live in CA and not sure about buying a second home out of state.

You can find homes for that price in Big Bear or other SoCal mountain communities, but not the land.

Yes we need water and electricity. We are just asking your advise since we are not very familiar with CA. Thank you.
