Haven't you heard?

In Florida they go in the ocean in August to dry off. The humidity is a bit high then.

But yes, FL is a swamp .. Everyone stay the @#%* out .. Please stay where you are if you're in California and if where you are isn't California .. Please get on the first bus out and pack it in.
Ditto where I am living. If the people who make CA what it is today move here, I am gonna be real ticked off.

True no beach, but everything else desirable CA has I have here. Yes more humidity in the summer, but I can afford to run my A/C at will and set really low, with the lower cost of living; and even trips to an incredible number of neat places without driving across a desert for two days. I used to say I would never live where I do now and in fact joked about who would want to live here, on a trip through the area. Now that I am here, boy am I glad I came.

Born and raised in SO Cal and lived in OC most of my life. Yes I miss the beach and many other things in CA, but not enough to do more than visit occasionally. Uniquely the vast majority of my friends, Class of 64, have moved out and are happy they did so.

A couple of California things one won't find in Tennessee or North Carolina, they and the thousands of places like these, make California a bit different than the east.:

So, the point of your posts are to share your disenchantment with California?
Thoughtful. Upbeat.
But I'm happy Tennessee worked out for you. It has some real nice qualties, I'm sure.

Maybe Northern Calif. I've never understood the concept of "beating the heat" in bathtub water, as is done at Gulf beaches and other warm water areas.

It's like they feel the need to justify their move, isn't it? Talk about an exercise in futility... posting in the Calif forum about how wonderful Tennessee is. You'd think he'd be doing that in the Tennessee forum.

Is there a Tennessee forum?

This second picture of the lake with the mountain looks like a lot of places in NH and the Carolinas - just off the top of my head.

Did you actually read the article? A shrinking tax base means decreased revenues, not exactly what California needs right now. Who knows, when things get really desperate, perhaps they will seize your cabbage patch and sell it off , how would you like that?

If you're a socialist I don't think that matters but I am not a socialist and yes we have also left CA.
I still love parts of CA but it isn't the same and we couldn't make a decent living there anymore and afford to live there.

I still have one sister there but she is leaving when she retires soon and the other sister already retired and left.

It's very sad to feel driven out of a place you love and lived most of your life.
But it's reality. CA is mismanaged and out of control when it comes to regulations and budget management.

You have to squint REAL HARD (like maybe eyes completely shut) to confuse the Sierra Nevada high country with anywhere else in the US.
