Is it an influence that is beyond their actual percentage of the population?

Their direct influence in California is pretty small. No more than any other state, in my estimation.

However, their specific agenda is promoted by influential non-homosexuals for their own reasons - the "coastal elites". The influence of this group is overwhelmingly strong in places. They definitely have a stranglehold on all public education in this state. My guess is that they (non-homosexuals) promote the homosexualist agenda because it is the last frontier of the sexual revolution - the final, definitive battle against the natural but hated connection between sex and procreation. IVF and surrogate motherhood is the other side of this coin. If sterile homosexuality is approved, then anything goes.

Influence much larger than their population.

By the way, Mr. Balducci, this isn't Mississippi. Here in California it's LGBTQIA.

LGBT is soooo 20 years ago. Backwards southerners ...

Wow. Just....wow.

Apparently this site doesn't like 5 letter words than start with Q and rhyme with "near". Wow again.

Homosexuality has been a part of the human condition since time began. It shouldn't have to be "approved" by anyone. Get so tired of bible-thumping hypocrites who act as if 10% of the population should stay out of their sight and not be allowed to live their lives as freely and openly as anyone else.

If the "homosexualist agenda", if about ending the hated connection between sex and procreation, it's a losing battle because straight people figured that out 50 years ago. My girlfriend's IUD means she's about as statistically likely to get pregnant as two gay guys ( that stat has a margin of error of 1%). The odd religious disgust stemming from people having sex and not making more humans is so odd to me.

Maybe this scenario is what upsets them? xkcd: Family Decals

Not to imply any sort of conspiracy, however, it can be said that LGBT(etc) tend to be child free (not in all cases, but in many) and therefore make an excellent sub population in terms of working hard, investing, adding to tax revenue while not necessarily "drawing" their share of services. A quite convenient group to attract to a dying state with increasingly poor finances.

And not procreating at this point in human history is not a bad thing at all!

Hollywood has long been a place where homosexuals had a presence, even if they couldn't openly live that way. The entertainment industry has done a lot to promote gay lifestyles as the "new normal".
