I just don't think that the IE has the amount of nice areas that you get in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.
Perhaps YOU don't sweat when it's 90 degrees and dry but that temperature is enough to render some inactive.

I'm sure that the IE was once a beautiful place, before it was developed. I've seen pictures of Riverside in the 40s-50s, with all the orange orchards and I would've liked living there back then. However, the area was turned into an absolute dump, in my opinion. I happen to think that Phoenix is a lot nicer than that part of the LA metro area, despite the brutally hot summers.
That's not weather. That's a serious emergency!

You get used to it after a couple months. When I moved to AZ, I came from coastal California, never living more than 25 miles inland. It was tough at first, but you get used to it. Even now, when we have heatwaves here in the Bay Area and it gets up to 100 degrees, I wonder what everyone is freaking out about.

Yes no beach, but living in the IE I still rarely went due to traffic, limited parking, etc. Once a great place to be is now not hardly worth the effort. I have mountains, rivers, lakes, green year round and I can drive to a warm ocean in 8 hours if I want beach time; or the gulf if I want no surf. Oh no parking problems either.
Yeah Kudzu is nice and green in the summer there, can't say I ever got use to the pine straw and high pollen count though. During the winter the only thing that is green is the pine trees, all that dormant brown grass overpowers much of it though.

8 hours to the beach? Not a day trip by any means.

I don't know if I could adjust to the dryness there compared to Miami where it's currently 75F with 73% humidity. I never felt anything unbearable here and while people complain I don't mind it. I never had to adjust to the climate coming from other states on the east coast.

People tell me that nosebleeds are common and you got to use plenty of skin lotion.

Yep the Kudzu is neat. On the other hand the Smokies have more varieties of trees than all of Europe. In my area the grass is only brown along the road, though the yard does not require mowing at all, during winter. CA on the other hand is brown most of the year, except for well watered yards and eucalyptus.

Yep 8 hours to the beach is about right from most areas in TN. East TN is to NC or SC and middle or West is to the Gulf.

Ca is one of the most Beautiful States with great weather. BUT it is too crowded in the OC, SD, LA area and is way too expensive for what is no longer that enjoyable a life style. I would agree that for those coming from another State it is still great, but not for those of us who were born and raised there. Most of us have left. In fact aside from illegal migration more people leave than enter now. Too late though.

One doesn't need to go to the beach when living in the IE because the beach comes to them in the form of nights that significantly cool off (South of the mountains, that is).

I lived in Atlanta once upon a time, the Kudzu there was brutal in some parts. I been through and in TN several times when I lived up there, could move back in a heartbeat for all the job opportunities I get there but I want to try my luck in CA while I still can. Anyways all those trees are nice to look at but will wreck havoc on many including myself, even on loads of antihistamines, a few times my car was covered in a yellowish haze of pollen. Southern Pine is did a number on me. That's a big change, glad your enjoying it though!

I agree. Moving to the IE, or less expensive parts of the Coachella Valley, would trump living in LV or Phoenix. And LA remains 2 or less hours away.
