I do agree the prices are high..but they will raise them as long as people pay. People are willing to pay more for unique items or experiences. People place a much higher value on Disney versus Knotts berry farm for example. Just like people are willing to pay more for an Apple product versus a similar product from another company.

It's not just the ticket prices but the other stuff that adds up. Food, gifts, parking, gas , hotels etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is over $100 in a couple years or so . Of course everyone says it was a lot cheaper back in the days...but people also made a lot less . Not sure how much Disney prices have gone up versus inflation or whatever.

Disneyland has always been prohibitively expensive. Not only that, but once you're in the park, the hook you on the food concessions. You're not allowed to bring food into the park, you're required to buy from their concessions.

Adjusted for inflation DL was under priced during the 80's and 90's. Then they started to figure out their pricing structure to keep the park fresh and still make money.

A one day pass is always going to be more expensive because you will spend less money on food, merchandise etc.

That is 100% incorrect. You are allowed to bring food and drink into the Disney parks. You can even bring in an entire picnic and nobody will stop you.

I know a family who went, and tried to take lunches into the park, but they were prohibited from having their lunch there. That was some time ago, so maybe the policy has changed.

You've always been able to bring food into Disneyland....years ago it was far more common than it is today.

Though you're not going to find dollar menus at Disneyland, the standard food isn't that expensive. A standard lunch or dinner will cost $8~$12, comparable to what most chain restaurants charge. Things like soda, treats, etc can get expensive....but those are luxury items. You can get free water throughout the park.

Regardless, the parks are very crowded. They just finished their $1+ billion redo of California Adventure which added a number of rides and the parks are still very crowded. Adding capacity to the parks is a slow process, so there really is only two short-term solutions to reduce the crowds. Increase prices or start limiting entry, the former makes way more sense.....
