Fresno???
Hi everyone. The wife and I have done some more talking and searching and I think we might possibly be making a huge change. We may choose Fresno over L.A.
Our #1 reason for leaving the Midwest is bad weather. I see Fresno has decent year round weather, not as good as L.A., but not snow for 5 months like here. Plus we will be only a few hours from L.A., SF and LV. The housing/rent in Fresno is much more affordable too. I'm sure there is a downside---what is the downside??????? By the looks of the rent prices it must have a really bad downside. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The downside is it's foggy much of the winter, very hot during the summer. It's also pretty flat, but if you're from the midwest that may not bother you, Go a bit up country toward bass lake and it's better.

Maybe we'll just stick with Hollywood. That was the original plan, plus we have friends there already. Thanks for your advice!

Hi,you should have a look at Bakersfield....It's a Growing City with a Population of over 300,000 and it's about 2 1/2 hours away from L.A.
Bakersfield has all the Modern Conveniences of any Mid-Sized City...The Summers are Hot,Dry and Sunny, while Winters can be Chilly and Foggy.
Bakersfield is also considered one of the most affordable parts of the State.

I can tell you another downside of the central valley cities is Air Quality. I have read some reports that Air Quality in Bakersfield is actually worse than LA. Personally, I wouldn't live in Hollywood, but the beach areas of Socal are awesome.

That's more of an issue for those with a sensitive respiratory system or if the person remains outdoors 24/7 inhaling the air.

Northern Indiana to Fresno?.......LoL, good luck with that!
Tired of the Midwest due to weather? Try South Carolina, Texas, or Oregon....Fresno has the worst air quality in the nation, worst water quality, INFESTED WITH GANGS, overpriced housing, parolees everywhere, illegal immigrants by the trillions, no jobs, methamphetamine everywhere....basically a **** hole for sure.
Research, research, research.......then don't choose Fresno!!!!

My sister and her husband have lived in Fresno for 20 years--have good jobs, lovely friends, are involved in all sorts of activities, easy access to Yosemite and Sequoia, haven't been attacked by a gang member yet. Fresno isn't a pretty city--no cute downtown like Visalia, which would be my choice in the area--but it certainly isn't the hellhole some people want to paint it.
