The person I spoke to seemed very informed about everything they do to keep your pet safe and that they want to make their pet travel the best program out of all the airlines. I'm fed up with United. You can't even talk to anyone, they make you wait for 30 minutes. You can speak to an American agent right away at Alaska. They seem to really have it together there.
As I mentioned a while back: Alaska Air is very good -- on the mainland. Do NOT try to decipher Alaska Air policy based on their agents in Hawaii ... in fact, be prepared for frustration at that end ... it will always work out, but the personnel in Hawaii have had to go to supervisors, and then supervisors of supervisors have had to check with mainland nearly every time I have flown with my service dogs to get the policy straight. At which point they are quite pleasant to work with again.

Note: what I write above should not be confused with Hawaiian quarantine and inspection personnel at the quarantine stations ... they are great and know what's up -- even though some of the DOA personnel at the home office there are unnecessarily wrapped up in their favorite color tape (red).

If anyone is interested in forming a pet group for a reduced fare on a chartered flight from CA to Maui-Hawaii, please let me know! The more people, the more affordable it is to be with your dog on a private jet.

Thank you!
Yes, I am interested in flying 3 dogs and 3 cats to Maui. When are you going? Do you have any idea how expensive chartered flights would be? I understand that if you go through Honolulu airport, and have all of the proper documentation, your animals do not need to go through quarantine. Is it the same in Maui?

Aloha Dogsformaui -

I'm not sure if you're still looking to charter a plane, but I'm living in Maui now while my dog is doing quarantine on the mainland. He will be ready to come over in early March 2013. If you're still looking for a group, I'm happy to help coordinate.

If you're already living on the islands with your dogs, I hope all went well for you.

Mahlao!
