That's interesting because when I lived in San Diego, every white women I dated was from LA

Well, I'm a white guy who has a preference for Asian/hapa or black women. I've turned down a good number of "pretty" white women over the course of my adult life, because I know that ultimately, I'll lack the physical attraction to her to be as happy about my relationship as I could be, meaning that I'd never be the man she deserves.

That's not especially true these days, honestly. Yes: on the whole, most Asian-American women I've known are open to dating white guys, but I've also known a number who aren't, either because they aren't attracted to white guys as much as other guys, or they don't feel like there's enough cultural compatability, or as a reaction to the fact that people adhere to an "Asian women are desparate for white men" stereotype and don't want people to think of them as self-loathing.

Latino males, tend to seek/date white women.

Most of the latino guys I know are more into latino women, and I know a few who are with Asians.

Middle eastern people go for white men/women.

The guys moreso than the women. It seems like a lot of Persian or Arab, especially Saudi guys think of blonde women especially as being the pinnacle of beauty and the ultimate goal for dating and romance. The women seem to be less interested in white guys, for whatever reason.

Very few Latina women with white men.

Really? I've seen that quite a bit, actually, especially in the South Bay and the Valley.

Think I've only seen one black woman with one white man and they could have been from out of town.

I've seen a fair number of BW/WM couples in LA; not as much as I did in Norcal, but frequently enough realtive to most other places. I have worked or gone to school with a few black women whose boyfriends or husbands were white, and wnet on a few dates with a gal who was an LA native with a white dad and black mom.

Haven't noticed many black men with white women, except OJ and a few other celebs.

Really? I've seen that fairly often throughout various nabes in LA...

415 s2k, notice I had typed "interracial dating" which is the exception, rather than the rule, dating within ones own race. The fact that your 1st choice is Asian, makes you an extreme exception. Most of the white guys I've seen with Asian women just can't find suitable white women (due to a deficiency in money, status, looks, or scarcity). Anyway, I've lived in LA most of my life and those categorizations are what I know to be true. Then again I don't go around counting interracial daters, so, who really knows?

It seems for some people, interracial dating is some kind of life goal or something. I know someone that said his entire reason for coming to CA was to date women of different races. Not go to college, not start a business, not to enjoy better weather, but simply to date interracial. That was his big dream in life. How did something as basic as dating become such a major purpose in someone's life?

The overwhelming majority of interracial marriages that I have seen in California and elsewhere are between people who are quite similar in many ways. For example, the Asian female Stanford MBAs that I have come across who are in interracial marriages are married to the White male Stanford MBAs. The poor White women who I have seen involved in interracial marriages are married to similarly poor Hispanic males. Race is often a huge barrier to a successful marriage so most people involved in one are usually similar in other ways such as income, personality, looks, and etc. The more differences there are, the more likely the marriage or relationship will fail which is why there usually aren't huge discrepancies between couples regardless of whether it is interracial.

I personally have never come across interracial couples who are very different from one another in looks, education, personality, and etc. Usually the geeky White guy who likes Asians dates the geeky Asian girl not the sexy Asian party girl.

There is interracial marriages all over the country. I am in one. They have IMO extra difficulties regarding cultural differences. Makes the communication harder at times IMO.

Makes for some pretty babies and there is nothing wrong with it.
What marriage doesn't require work and some discretion of the mouth?

I hope you weren't slamming the South. There are lots of great people there as well.
