Default Single young new grad nurse in LA?

I will graduate nursing school In a year with a bachelors degree and plan to move to California from the Dallas area. I'm hoping to live around Los Angeles and I wanted to know if I could make it on a nurses salary. I wouldn't mind living in a studio, I just want to be walking distance to some shops and entertainment. I am also open to any other cities that may have more to offer but would like to stay on the coast.
I've lived in Texas my entire life and I'm hoping to get some life experience away from home for about a year.

Oh heck yeah Dallas ain't a cheap city anymore anyways. LA is probably only slightly more expensive than Dallas right now, especially for renting.

Aside from the misinformation presented, is there a nationwide shortage of punctuations noone told me about?

To the OP: how much is a starting nurse' salary?

Heck yes, you will more than survive. RN's can easily make > $100K in a hospital setting.

Do you want to specialize? Like ICU, NICU...any intensive care setting, even hemodialysis. This would bring in a lot more $$$. You may also want to consider working at a magnet hospital, a tertiary care facility or university setting - these are highly desirable, have much better working conditions & pay. Also remember, as a new grad you'll get to work night shift, thus a night shift differential.

You could work anywhere in California. Although, the pay is much higher in the larger cities. Ignore the comment about LA. There are lots of great opportunities there.

I would suggest you start networking with some of the national nursing organizations to find out where the jobs are located, check the nursing magazines and work with a recruiter. Doesn't your school help with job placement?
