The California Teachers Association has been screwing the property tax payers of California for decades. They spend millions in every election to sponsor proposition after proposition to raise taxes while simultaneously allowing schools and educational standards to deteriorate.
Now is our chance to eviscerate the CTA.
This proposition will hit them with a death blow they will not recover from. Teachers unions were never meant to be the most powerful political body in government. They will be reduced from the dictators in Sacramento to being what they were supposed to be all along.
This is your chance to get even, don't let it slip away.

Not sure how since this is what Prop 32 is about

Proposition 32: Ban on Paycheck Deductions and Contributions

But it is interesting that CA spends Billions in education but still ranks 47th in the US. More money is not going to fix this mess.

But what is most interesting is that CA is a right to work state. Right to Work Law & Legal Definition

How are the Unions allowed to take dues from your paycheck in a right to work state? There is something fishy going on here for sure.

All of those people who are forced to join a union in CA as terms for employment ought to be seeking a way to sue the pants off of this state for allowing Unions to have this much power.

CTA gets its money from teachers paychecks... lots of teachers. If they are cut off from that source of income they have no money to bribe politicians.
That is why they are fighting this with everything they have got.

Unions suck for sure!

Certainly one of the biggest problems of this state.

Well, I come down on the opposite side from you on this issue.

First off, if they want to take some of their own money and use it to try and keep from having their rights reduced, I have no problem with this at all. I know the argument that all public money is taxpayer funded so therefore....but I find that very unconvincing. Following that to a complete sentiment then all public employees are really public beggars, hoping that the general public has a willingness to let them actually eat this week.

My view is that public employee compensation should be reevaluated, and their compensation should generally be appropriate in comparison to private sector equivalent jobs. I know that public pensions are much higher than what exists in the private sector today, but is this due to the public employees getting lower wages and this offsetting these lower wages? Is it due to inappropriate contracts that need to be renegotiated? Is it due to a mix of circumstances, and sometimes justified and sometimes excessive?

Meanwhile, Prop 32 completely opens the door for the Super Pacs to blow all other opposition right out of the water. And the Super Pacs have a substantial funding advantage from those sources that for the most part drove the country into the financial problems we have today.

So, in my view those who were most responsible for our current financial mess get additional future leverage in advocating their positions, and those who are in the financial class (middle class) getting most squeezed the past few decades get further driven down in this proposition.

Nope!

This is true of every union. I was once involuntarily in a union. They took a piece of every paycheck to fund candidates and propositions that I never agreed to fund. My wife is currently a member of a union that does the same. I love all the ads every year, "Union members support xxx." No, union bosses support xxx partially with money stolen from members opposed to xxxx.

Again how is this legal in CA?

This is a right to work state and thus Unions can't force you to join nor take dues from your paycheck...how are they getting away with this in CA?

I don't know but I had three options within 90 days of being hired:

1) Join the union and pay dues
2) Not join the union and pay dues
3) Quit
