Our lease in up for renewal. We have been excellent tenants for over 10 years. New management (note NEW MANAGEMENT) say they must increase our monthly rent to same as the current or new tenants or they would be in violation of the Fair Housing Laws. They must treat every tenant the same. So this is how we get rewarded after ten years. We are talking about a $215 a month increase. They have always increased our rent upon renewal. Usually $20 to $80 a month more. If we don't sign new lease they charge a $100 extra a month. I assume they can increase our rent to the current rate whether we sign or do not sign a new lease and add the $100 extra on top of that. Plus according to the new lease we now have to pay W & G. It was included before. Another $80 -$100 more a month.
Any advice or replys appreciated.

Usually its a toss up between fighting with the landload and moving. Such menial things are not worth fighting for in real life. I would consider moving as an option.

unless you're in a rent control area, I think you have two options, pay it or leave. I doubt some law made them raise the rent 210 a month rather greed made them do it.
