MODESTO elementary schools??
We are moving to Modesto for my husbands job in the next few months and I'm trying to find an area that has good rated elementary schools for our children. So far I can only find really low rated ones on great school.net. I'm still looking through the site, but in the meantime if anyone knows of any to check into, that would be great.
Thanks!!!!

Will you be looking specifically in Modesto or in the surrounding areas?

Enslen Elementary School is a decent performer. 9/10 on great schools and the API is 860. Not a bad performance at all.
Lakewood Elementary School is a very good performer. 10/10 on great schools and the API is 916. This is a excellent score.
Rose Avenue Elementary School is a decent school at 8/10 and the API is 847. Good score also.
Sonoma Elementary is a 9/10 and has the API of 871.
Those are a few standouts in a area where most of the schools are not that well scoring on state tests. These are the best in Modesto, so that does limit your neighborhood choices, unless you can get open enrollment. Lakewood has a very good score.

I don't know if you have already moved or not, but I can attest for Rose Avenue being a wonderful school. There are some good neighborhoods in the school's boundaries. I have also heard that most schools in the Slyvan School District are good.

What about junior high and high schools in Modesto? I read there are a lot of gang problems in the area. Likewise, is there a "home-school" network?

Leo-075, Have you made the move? My wife and I are considering moving to the Modesto area with our 11 year-old child, and school is the most important factor for us. Any info you have would be extremely helpful to us!

Modesto is a dump... find yourself a good divorce lawyer and run.

Oh, one more thing... just because you find a good elementary school doesn't mean a Jr. High and High School follow suit. Research well.
