How to start a business in California?
Hello all,
it might looks a little bit weird, but I am actually living in Québec and working hard to get my studies done and spare enough money to move comfortably to California.
However, my wish is to start a business. I always wanted to and I know I will. Now, as you probably guessed, this might be a little bit problematic for me since I live in Québec and always lived there. Here, I know where I must go to get informations to start a business [financement, statistics...] but about California... I have absolutely no clue.
I know that once I will get there, I won't start a business with the magical thought just because I want to, I am planning to live there with a job for some time to get a better understanding of the habits of the people there and their needs (I have good ideas about which field etc.), but it would help me quite a lot if someone could give me some information about starting a business there.

Once you get where you're going to be in Calif, visit the local Chamber of Commerce and they'll get you started...a lot of what you have to do depends on what county the business will be in and what the type of business it is. In general, there's a lot of paperwork: getting a business license, both state and county, inspections if your business is open to the public, a special license if you have a home based business... But if you start with the Chamber of Commerce, or even the Small Business Administration in the area where the business will be located, they'll get you all the info you'll need.

You can file your business papers online through a private low cost company to avoid legal fees... try legaloom.com

I am in the same position as you. I would like to move to California, Redondo beach preferrably. I now have a small home based business www.hairmagicbymissq.com check it out. I would like to have a small stand or something like that on the beach. This is all new to me, but exciting. If it happens I can hardly wait. I wonder what kind of hoops I will have to jump through. If you have any info feel free to answer.
