I was looking at the latest Cal Facts report, issued by the State LAO, and saw some random interesting facts:

- The top 1% of income earners make about 25% of the state income, but pay about 45% of the state income taxes

- Inflation and population adjusted per capita spending (General and special funds) has declined by 18% since 2006-2007

- Half of the students currently enrolled in public colleges and universities receive grants or waivers that fully cover systemwide tuition and fees, compared with about one–third of students in 2007–08

- Between 1991 and 2011, the state's overall crime rate declined by 56 percent.

Anyhow, for anyone interested, here is the report:

Thanks for the facts. Those paint a better picture than some like to paint.

Super interesting stuff. I like the LAO. I'm sure they have plenty of critics, and they must feel like their work is totally in vain sometimes, but I feel like they're always attempting to breathe a little bit of facts-based sanity back in to California politics.
