Hi, I live in St. Louis, MO but will be moving to elk grove in the summer of 07. I would like to get some info. I got on the internet and did some of my own searching. I did find a lot of things like schools for my girls, doctors, vet.....but what about the jobs. My husband has a job lined up and I don't. What is the best time to come and visit that area. How are the people?

Default Relocating to Elk Grove

Elk Grove is a good place to move to in the Sacramento Area. You didn't mention what kind of work you did. There are a lot of possibilities to work depending on your work experience. What part of Elk Grove are you moving to? What grade will your children be in? The reason I ask is that there are a couple of schools you really don't want to send your kids to.

I have very good friends that live in Elk Grove; they have a 4th grader in school. My friend spends a lot of time volunteering at the school; things like helping out the teacher by taking attendance, checking homework in, making sure that the kids are on the correct page. I know that she is at school for 2 to 3 hours per day, every day doing this. Does the school not have enough personnel to do this? Also, the school is year-round - they are either "on" or "off". I haven't heard my friend complain about the curriculum, in fact she says that it's quite challenging. She also takes and picks up her daughter every day.

This is quite a change for me, living elsewhere in the country, where we are on a traditional school year, have school busing. I think that some of these things are worth considering and knowing ahead of time.

Oh, forgot to comment about the "people". My friends in Elk Grove are very "real", very down to earth people.

Thank you for your information..

I am a dental assistant. I have 2 girls 9 and 5. I am in school at night in the state that I live now working on my accounting degree. What are some programs I can put my girls in? My 9 year love sports and 5 year old love art, singing, dancing and acting. In my city( st. louis) they are in a youth program that helps them with their many activities. Do they have any in Elk Grove? I want to thank you for all of you information and any advice you can give.
