Never been there before, so don't know the area. Looking for stuff to do with my 2 boys. They would love a mall, I'm sure. Budget to stay is between $70.00-$90.00, good neighborhoods, bad neighborhoods. Thanks so much!

Kern County Museum:

Kern County Museum - Bakersfield

As far as motels go, we like the Best Western Crystal Palace Inn, which includes a full breakfast.

Well, the HoJo's off 99 and White Lane should be decent. Anything off Ming or Stockdale should be ok. Don't stay in Oildale.

The malls up off 178 in ne bakersfield as I recall.

Eat at one of the basque restaurants on Wible rd which parallels 99, good eats there.

There's lots of shopping on White Lane, wal-mart, etc.

When ya going? You might catch a dirt track race in Oildale. Or maybe not they seem to be out of season now.

You can drive up to Lake Isabella for a nice drive.

Sure ya don't want to go a little further up the grapevine and hit Magic Mountain?

PS: The mods suggestion for hotel looks good also. Pretty safe as far as I recall because it's close to the CHP office.

You can go there. It's just that the hotels in Oildale aren't as nice. Don't stay in Oildale is what I meant.

Well, if it was dirttrack season you could take in a race.

And if I recall rightly the Sonic Burger joint is technically in Oildale. It's been awhile since I drove through there though.

Now Curmy don't be harsh. We need those oil workers in Oildale working in the oil fields. And they do get paid fairly decent wages for the work they do.

If you must be in Oildale, I humbly suggest Trout's, for a s*** kicking good time.

Yes, Oildale is not very pretty. It's a whole other world with tweakers and dentists. Try staying close to the 99' I think there's a Quality inn by airport drive before you get to Oildale.

When I lived there we hit the mall at East Hills.
