What? What are you talking about? Of course Bell Atlantic was never in Ca, it was part of ATT, Pacific Bell was the CA part of ATT. Do your homework. GTE was a different company and moved their headquarters to Los Colinas Tx in 1988..

You mentioned it as if this had anything to do with CA. I'll do my homework When you can actually make some sense, deal?

Which is predated by the breakup of Ma Bell. /shrug

I'd rather inquire about low-paying Wal-Mart jobs in and around Bentonville though.

I did not know that. I knew that Great-Aunt Sally used to listen into family convos and know all the family gossip.

Well we sure know about it. Hubby worked for Pacific for 12 years, but had left before the breakup. I am still not quite sure why he put GTE and Bell Atlantic together?

BTW, you might be surprised what some of those low paying jobs in and around Bentonville actually pay? Wal Mart management pays very well, as does Tysons and Hunt trucking..There are a few other companies here that also pay well, and the COL is very low. Maybe you need to visit us sometime?

Heck even I had forgotten that..I think the young people who post here would be surprised at a lot of things before say, the 1980s.

Yes, it does have to do with Ca but BEll Atlantic did not. GTE was headquartered in Ca, the start of this thread dealt with attempts to convince major compaines to leave Ca for Texas. Among other companies, that is exactly what GTE did. Now, does this make sense to you?

That happened when I was a kid.

My sister works for ATT now on the business side here in Fresno. Has for 15 years or so. Almost had to go on strike last contract, hehe.
