I am planning a trip in July from the Ontario Airport to Victorville, Ca. I was wondering how is the drive? I live in Colo and have never been to California. Looked at a map and can't really tell if I'm going to be driving through mountain terrain. Crazy as it sounds though I live in Colorado, I am not one to like the drive through and around mountain roads.

Its a 6-8 lane divided highway, not a 2 lane mountain road. Its not even as challenging as the foothills west of Denver. Weather won't be an issue in July.

Not fun on most Fridays from 3pm on. Earlier on a Friday before a long weekend.

Northbound on the I-15 over Cajon Pass is an easy trip, with only a moderate climb to deal with. Coming back is another matter, with the southbound trip, especially at night, in heavy traffic or bad weather, requiring the driver to be at full alert. A steep drop after cresting the summit and then a sharp left turn, the site of many crashes over the years.
