Default Is Bakersfield near where the fires are??

Hello,

Can any of you please help me out. I have a mentally ill relative who lives in Bakersfield. I know there are fires in Southern California, but I have no idea (and believe me, I tried googling all the info), well I can't find out what part of California Bakersfield is in.

Is it in Southern CA where all the fires are raging.

If you could please set my mind at ease, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks much.

Melody

No, the fires are on the coast from santa barbara to SoCal, Bakersfield is well clear of them. The air quality is down some today due to the fires, but Bakersfield is over 100 miles from the flames. FYI: Bakersfield is in the Central Valley, 100+ miles north of LA, through the grapevine mountain pass.

No, Bakersfield is an hour and a half north of the nearest fires (in Santa Clarita).

Not to worry. The fires are not near Bakersfield. Your relative is safe.

Default Thank you All!!!

I can't thank you enough.

It's my son I was referring to. I didn't want to make a big deal out of this on these forums. He has high functioning autism (Aspergers Disorder), and he is in one of the Kern Linkage programs. He is very self sufficient but distant. Aspergers does that sometimes.

I really don't know anything about locations in California (for example, I have a 90 year old Uncle who lives in Mission Viejo) I have no idea where that is.

It really stinks when relatives move away and live so far. Thank god for Email.

And I can't thank you enough, ALL OF YOU, who responded so quickly.

Much appreciated.

Melody

Mission Viejo is in So. California close to where the fires are located. He's getting lots of smoke and ash.

Next time, try the following:

- point your browser to google.com
- type "Bakersfield CA" into the search box

The first result is a map of Bakersfield CA. You can zoom out to find where it is in location to the rest of California.

Bakersfield CA - Google Search

Anyway, thanks so much.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. I can sigh a sigh of relief now.
