Yeah, generally uninhabited areas don't have many people, which makes them worth visiting. You will note I left out all metro areas, and the Central Valley. The Valley is boring, the metro areas are to me unlivable, and no reason I can see to visit them.

That's what's so favorite about it.

Yup, in fact that whole eastern side of the Central and Sacto Valleys, from Shasta & Lassen, on down thru the dozens of uncrowded communities, with rich histories nestled all along the western Sierra foothills... Shingletown, Paradise/Magalia, Oroville, Quincy, Nevada City, San Andreas, Angels Camp, Mariposa, etc.. Would even include as far as the southern end, with all the quirky little communities around Lake Isabella, like Wofford Heights, Kernville and Bodfish! Especially if you appreciate the Old West, that's where it's at!!

I flat love Nevada City. I have spent a fair bit of time in it, from dinner after skiing heading home to Magalia, or romantic weekends with a good friend, or Father's Day Bike Races, to Forest Service Supervisor's office visits.. It is one of the loveliest towns in the nation.
