I am looking at taking a job in this town and would like more info about what it is like. How hard it is to get to and what the drive is like. Any info before deciding to move is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've visited there. The nearest large (well, larger) town is Ukiah, which is actually a great little town with none of the usual California pretensions, but it's a 64 mile drive, the speed limits are low, and the roads are treacherous and mountainous. If you want to live in Gualala itself, be prepared to pay out the nose for a shoddy little log cabin.

Moving to general California, since this wouldn't really be "Bay Area" - might get more responses there.

Gualala is a great little town, located in what is called the banana belt south of the cape, less fog than Mendocino. Fairly hippie dippie. The area is spectacularly beautiful.

It is considered isolated, the roads in are two lane mountain roads.

I think you will love it or hate it, but you won't know until you get there.
