Remember to work in reality with those dreams; to wit, the 80-95% of your waking hours that you WON'T be spending in the ocean, unless your work is in marine biology, watercraft repair, or professional fishing and any industries associated with it.

ok...so...if not the coast, where to live with seasons? Doing research all over California. I love the beach but if not there, where? Sunshine in the summer and snow or at least cold in the winter?

Sierra Foothills, somewhere between Tehachapi and Yreka (yes, I included the Siskiyous' , pick your elevation and you have picked your climate.

Nevada City is a fine Victorian town

hahaha , no we will both be working. Although we may have to get a roommate (roommates) if we can't afford to live alone, which is what we expected. Hopefully that will all work out. We are just trying to get a feel of where to live first...the coast may be out as far as affordability from what I have been seeing.

Thank you! I love Northern California but I'm afraid it is too cold for me up there. My family and I used to visit my grandparents every year or two in Laytonville...we always went to the beach and it was sooo cold but beautiful. I love Mendocino and Ft Bragg.
