Because it's funny to tax Republicans. They get real mad and blustery, and their already high blood pressure goes up, and they get red and sweaty, and say unintentionally funny things. It's all about the humor. (Oh, they're talking about running Palin again btw. Woohoo!).

But no, tax increases are themselves not necessarily warranted or to be celebrated, unless we somehow are shown some evidence that such funds will be spent in a productive, meaningful manner. There is much to quarrel about in this regard from all sides here in CA.

Part of the problem is probably all the deadbeats not paying any state taxes putting the burden on others, unfortunately you seem to be proud to be part of that problem.
Silly poster ... that rate means that a Californian on average pays 3.3% more of his income to taxes. Which ain't spit for the pleasure of living in California compared to Texas. (Here we go again!)

(Hey, also sorry there aren't any deadbeats in other states that skip out on taxes ... like all them rich fellers with accountants.)

Interesting how it's ok to denigrate some people while others are off limits. More hypocrisy there.

Um, right. And when Republicans lilke Paul Ryan try to point out that we are blowing tons of money on Medicare and not getting better outcomes for it, people go ballistic.

Of course it's funny to denigrate silly people. Especially Paul Ryan.

Denigrating Republicans is a longstanding American tradition, and not very difficult.

This is funny, you must be a conservative, I tell you that you too can avoid paying high California income tax, legally, and you fuss.

Your whole ideology is built on low taxes yet, you reject the idea of paying low taxes!!!!!

I find that funny!

Yes and that 3.3% is over 40% higher than Texas, like I already said.

Are you also sorry that CA had a third of the nations welfare recipients?

If you earn $100K a year and pay $3,300 more to live in California than a place like Texas that's a problem for you? Simple solution: Texas is the place for you. But truth is you wouldn't pay that much more, because you'd have to be in the over $250K a year income bracket to hit the higher rates of taxes. Fact is you'd have a lower tax burden than Texas at $100,000.

Doesn't bother me one bit that California sports a high ratio of welfare recipients. They are Americans. We all need to live somewhere. Should California be reserved only for the rich?

Now before you jump in with:
most of the welfare recipients aren't Americans I would advise you to do your research (because they all are) ... and while you are researching, take note that a very large percentage of welfare recipients are working poor. You know, working to serve those with lots of money.

Do you poor guys all get your bologna from the same butcher.

Lets look at your numbers.

Statistically speaking:
If a person in Texas (on average) makes $100,000 per year they will pay $7,900 in taxes.
If a person in California (on average) makes $100,000 per year they will pay $11,200 in taxes,

A difference of $3,300 bucks on an income of $100,000 per year. If you want to call that a difference of 40% you probably buy lottery tickets too.

Did you know that less than 3% of Americans are on the dole? Which means in effect, that 1% of Americans are Californians on the dole.

Aren't numbers fun!

I could have sworn the purpose was to rake in as much revenue as possible on the use of things they know people are going to use anyway.
