Otherwise, the truly intelligent and hardworking at these places are all too often vastly overshadowed by the highbrow elite brats who got in through alumni favors, and skated by in honors and AP classes in HS, especially in private schools, that served up A's on silver platters just for showing up. Most of the evidence is from the mouths of those who benefited from such - they have a good laugh about it, but sure aren't gonna pass up the very lucrative benefits. If one would like to characterize these cherubs as the "best and brightest," one would also have to acknowledge that at least as many were "lucky."
Gosh, sucks being poor huh?

Edit: Middle-class rather. But that was a joke, in case anyone misread it over the internet.

It is ideal if those who are better (smarter, more attractive et al) breed only with similarly gifted people. Evolution demands this.

Seems historical attempts at eugenics, noble birth, or forced marriages have produced mixed results. Maybe attempting to artificially manufacture elite humans is a cause best left to sci-fi flix and the dust of dark history.

If the able paired only with equally gifted people, in a few generations an elite species would emerge with enhanced positive characteristics.

Yes, I agree..."lucky" is a good descriptor. Born into wealth and handed connections. And most of the ones that get these in the first place are smart enough to not squander them.

I found there to be 3 main groups:

1. WASPy kids of mid to upper intelligence
2. Minority kids of mid to upper intelligence
3. Uber-intelligent kids, WASPy, minority, or whatever

1 was the most common followed by 2. 3 was a small but still noticeable contingent.

Dude, we fought a very famous war against a very infamous guy and regime who tried what you advocate. Didn't work out for them too well.

Huge difference - his theories were grounded in race. My views are grounded in ability. Take Ben Carson, he's a high IQ dude (despite recent blips!), I dont care whether you're black or white, if you are a smart guy/girl, you would be in the elite and should mate accordingly.

All I am saying is that there is no racism in my perspective. Meritocracy is not racism.
