I really want to retire in SLO or Arroyo Grande. I like Los Osos too, but I'm hearing there are problems with sewer. DH is also interested in Santa Margarita (although, near as I can tell it looks more rural than I care to be). Can anyone offer any updates on any of that?

Thanks!

I'm sure people "their" don't like it. Although people there might like it.

To the OP, I have a friend living in SM and it is pretty rural. I totally understand your hesitation living rural. The one good thing is that everything is very close. You won't drive more than 15 minutes for just about anything. The one thing I did not like about SM was the lack of a town square or downtown area.

Have you looked into Atascadero?

AustinTraveler: Thanks for your response. Atascadero is a little too hot for me; I'm feeling Arroyo Grande to be honest if not SLO.

Mysticaltyger:Not sure what you're talking about. I used the proper form of the word "there". "Their" is the possessive form of the word - as in, "their house, their car, their shoes". "There" relates to place. The last of the three is a contraction of the words, "they are" which is "they're". There you go. Your tax dollars at work: I'm an English teacher.

You're welcome mathina. By the way, Mysticaltyger was correcting another post (not yours) that has since been deleted.

I agree about Atascadero and the heat in the summer; however, Santa Margarita is no different so I think that rules it out anyway. AG is probably a good compromise. I really wish SLO wasn't so expensive compared to the surrounding areas! Good luck!!
