West Hills
I have a 13 week travel assignment in West Hills, where would the safest place to live be?
Any recommendations on Apartment complexes?
How far from West Hills can I live without having to be concerned about traffic issues?
Thanks

Most if not all of West Hills is safe. You'll be fine west of Topanga and virtually anywhere north to south. Lots of restaurants on Ventura Boulevard about three miles south of West Hills. Other places within short driving distance Old Calabasas, Ventura Boulevard from Calabasas east to as far as you want to drive. Don't know of any apartment specifically. You can swim laps at Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center for $3. Bring a bicycle and lots of nice cycling along Valley Circle, the Calabasas area, Mulholland, around Chatsworth Reservoir (a little narrow though - don't do it at rush hour), Calabasas Road/Mureau Road out towards west Calabasas and Agoura.
Did you have a place in mind other than West Hills? If so where? If not, stay near West Hills, Woodland Hills, Calabasas, and at the farthest, Agoura Hills. They are all fine.
Finally, if Residence Inn or Homewood Suites is your thing, I think they just built two in the Agoura Hills, Westlake Thousand Oaks area. It woud be at least a half hour drive during rush hour but those neighborhoods are outstanding, safe and pretty though maybe a little residential and boring for a single person on travel. Homewood Suites and Residence Inns are nice for long term travel because you get free internet, free breakfast, free happy hour with beer and wine and some food.

thank-you, I'll be on assignment at the West Hills Medical Center and thought I would like stay nearby if possible, don't like dealing with traffic on the way to work. Sounds like I will have lots of areas to check out on my time off.

The area around that center is extremely safe, residential, no traffic, comfortable. I don't know about finding a rental for 13 weeks..I just don't know. But you might look at the Homewood Suites or Residence Inn like I wrote earlier. They are about 20-30 easy minutes away though. Also check out Oakwood Apartments or go to google maps and search on "corporate housing". I guy I worked with at Northrop Grumman in Woodland Hills did that when he'd be out for a few months at a time from Long Island.

West Hills...
Try the Oakwoods in Woodland Hills (on Victory and Topanga). They do corporate housing, you can get a furnished apartment for 13 weeks there (depending on avails, of course). That would put you right across from Topanga Plaza and tons of restaurants, about a mile from Ventura Blvd, and about 5 minutes from West Hills Medical Center...
