Default Employment laws?

In Indiana the worker has little rights. Hire and fire with no explanation is totally legal here. Is it the same in Cali? Also, here you can get evicted with no reason given also, hows Cali?
Pay cuts- Indiana employers can legally cut your pay without telling you and it's legal, Cali?
Discrimination here is terrible because the state protects the employer, not the employee. Just had a girl who got fired due to her sexual orientation. Once the bosses found out, she was "let go." Just curious how that would fly in California.

It hard to fire people here, even with just cause you have to jumps through alot of hoops. Pay cuts, not gonna happen here. Technically you can fire someone without cause BUT you never see it happen, people have necome far too sue happy.

California is an at-will state, technically you can be fired at any time. The problem of course, is that so many people in CA are highly paid, that they can afford to sue if they do get fired. As a result, employers tend to be a little punchy about firing for cause unless there is a specific contract in place.
