We want to move to California soon and need help deciding on where to move.

We want to live in a safe area.
We own a small business so jobs are not an issue.
We would like to live within 15 min's from the beach.
We would like to live within 30 min's from an airport because my husband travels for work.
We would like to be in a culturally diverse city if possible.
We would like to pay under $3,500/month for rent.
We have no kids in school so schools are not an issue.
We have 3 dogs so it would need to be dog friendly.
We love warm weather.

What are the best places for us in California based on the above?

Thanks so much for all your help!

I take it when you say "at least", you mean "within"?

There is only one answer here. SAN DIEGO.

Your suggestion was San Diego... do you have any suggestions on what neighborhoods / areas in San Diego we should look at? Thanks again for your help!

Are there any rentals there though?

The UTC area may be ok if OP can deal with UCSD students.

La Jolla is one of the most desired locations in Southern California, so it's expensive. However, you should be able to find something with your budget. The median age is in the upper 30's. There are a lot of young people that like to hang out there. Lots of restaurants, beaches, cliffs, caves and it's walkable.

No problem, you can also check Pacific Beach and Mission Bay as alternatives too. San Diego has a lot of really great areas. Good luck.
