Los Altos Hills
West San Jose
San Leandro
Livermore
Antelope
Vacaville
South San Jose
Sunnyvale
Los Gatos
Capitola
Felton
Willow Glen
Campbell
Cupertino
Saratoga

No particular favorite. They all had good and bad things about them and some have changed to the point that they are less desirable than when I was living there. Change is inevitable and sometimes it is for the worst. I'm enjoying LAH, but the drive to some of my favorite places can be bothersome at times.

Downey
Bellflower
Pasadena
Fullerton
Costa Mesa
Sun Valley
North Hollywood
Escondido
Lake Elsinore
Murrieta

(Plus 6 other States)

Lived in several of the cities in different areas, such as three homes in Fullerton and four homes in Costa Mesa.

Preferred Fullerton in the 50's and Costa Mesa in the 60's and none are as nice as they were years ago.

No wonder you moved to Tennessee and complain about "California". Too bad you didn't get out more.

San Fernando
Los Angeles
San Jose
Saratoga
Mountain View
Sunnyvale
Santa Clara
El Sobrante
San Francisco

San Francisco is my favorite, with Saratoga being a close second.
Least favorite: El Sobrante (San Fernando was a lot nicer when I lived there in the early 1950s)

Campbell
Modesto
Sonora (kid to high school)

Hollywood
Palm Springs
Palm Desert
Chico (three places)
Summers in Los Altos and Redondo Beach

Ramona
San Diego (Hillcrest, Pacific Beach, University Heights and South Park)

Favorite is definitely South Park, San Diego an amazing friendly neighborhood right in the heart of the city where I own a beautiful historic house on a canyon.

But I loved growing up in Sonora ('70s), even Modesto was fine in the late '60s and going to college in Chico was just about heaven (the last of Pioneer Days)- no place that I didn't find something to like about for the time I was there even if I wouldn't necessarily want to live there today

Lived in:

Redwood City
South San Francisco

Redwood City my favorite, by far, although South City is nice and has a lot of advantges.

Moving to Central Orange Co. in September, so I'll be living around Irvine, Newport, Tustin, that area.

All of your Bay Area communities listed other than El Sobrante are nice, but I don't think I'd wanna live in SF proper for a variety of reasons. I, too, like Saratoga.

With L.A., it really depends on which area of the city you live in.

I was born in Santa Rosa and lived in Sebastapol, but we moved to Oregon when I was 1.
I moved back when I was 12, first we lived in Brea then moved to La Habra a year later. Currently I live in Fullerton (I go back and forth between my dorm and my parents house in La Habra.)

I enjoy Fullerton, and it's one of the few cities in Orange County that I actually enjoy. La Habra is boring and Brea is a bit snobby for my tastes.
