Hope this is the real deal, but I smell a "T" because unless Mrs. Doubtfire has the big "D," someone from her supposed generation would not take "rat race" literally.

Well we certainly wouldn't want any just plain fun, entertaining and harmless posts on the forum would we.

Actually, it would be kind of nice, if true.

Don't they just mill around?

Good night all.

Hi Glo. The rats race in the city streets. Weekdays from about 6 in the morning till about 6 at night mostly. Yeah. Mostly they just mill around.

It was somebody's idea of a joke. Have you been taking those posts seriously?

That way the people who have lived in SoCal since 1953 and pay $500 a year in property taxes (and have $1.5M in the bank and senior discounts and government cheese and $80K worth of government funded annual medical "procedures" and handicapped parking and meal on wheels) would pay just as much property tax as their next door neighbors, the young couple working two jobs, who pay $10,000 a year in property taxes.

Those same people - who bought their homes in 1953 -are probably in their 80's by now, wouldn't you say? I may be misinterpreting your statement but you sound bitter. I can assure you that if these elderly have 1.5M in the bank, they are NOT receiving "meals on wheels." They may have an aide from an agency that comes in and cooks for them (they do that you know) or they may have family that helps them.

It's pretty simple. If you can't afford the taxes, don't buy the house. It's like someone asking how much it's going to cost to insure a rolls royce.
