Hello Everyone I would love for some wisdom and advice. I'm a student at a community college in Maryland I will be finished and ready to transfer Fall 2015. I'm studying business marketing with hopes of getting into film marketing. Right now Im employed with macys and saving cash because when 2015 comes I want to move to California to pursue my career. I've researched USC, Santa Clara and San Francisco and planned on applying I know that usc is really selective but it never hurts to try right? Attending school in California can give me opportunities that Being home could never give me. I guess I'm asking how much should I have saved and just tips on how to make this work I have a car should I bring it? ( I hate driving though) I plan on having roommates. Do you know of any other schools that have a good business program? Just any tips or advice would really help it is a good time away

Many CA schools have good business programs and there are websites dedicated to talking about schools that you can look up. First, you need to figure out how you afford rent and all that jazz on whatever job you are doing now or it's equivalent, assuming you find one here when you move. As far as college goes, remember about OOS tuitions and do your research before applying willy-nilly to places you couldn't afford to live/attend even if you get accepted, that's a waste of money and time.

I think you def need a car. I don't believe you will get too many more opportunities here than you would from a good business school in Maryland except for the "who you know" and contacts you make. You don't just automatically get those from living here though, especially for a particular specialized industry. Keep your mind open to other career paths besides marketing film, you don't want to limit yourself to a niche.
